A pub Bonfire Night event left customers in fear after the first firework of the evening "U-turned" after being set off and moved towards them. A spokesperson for The White Hart, Ufford , said this was down to a 'malfunction' on November 5.

They commented: "Following tonight’s Bonfire Night event at The White Hart we apologise to anyone affected by the first firework of the evening. It was carefully angled away from the bonfire and our guests. We are mortified that it u-turned against the prevailing wind.

"We believe we have managed to identify the thankfully small number of people who were affected and we have expressed our deepest regrets to them. We hope to meet them in person to make clear how sorry we are."
