New details have been released in a Bergen County crash that left a 55-year-old motorcyclist in critical condition.
The collision occurred just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the intersection of Hathaway Street and Locust Avenue in Wallington, according to Jeff Angermeyer, Deputy Chief of Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Responding officers from Wallington, Rutherford, East Rutherford, and Wood-Ridge found the motorcyclist with serious injuries after a 2016 Ford Explorer and 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle collided in the intersection, investigators said.
The impact caused the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle, and he was rushed to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition, authorities said.
The driver of the Ford Explorer stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, officials said. The crash does not appear to involve any suspected criminality, and no charges are anticipated at this time, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The ongoing investigation is being led by the Wallington Police Department, assisted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Task Force under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and Chief Ireneusz “Eric” Kluska.
