A firefighter suffered minor injuries while responding to a house fire in Waterbury on Friday morning.

Crews responded to Sylvan Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Friday and found heavy fire, mostly in the back, and the fire had extended to the floors.

They had to vent the roof and the fire was knocked down by 8:54 a.m.

The firefighter who was injured was sent to the hospital as a precaution, officials said.

Firefighters had some difficulties due to hoarding conditions inside the house, according to the fire department.
