Gov. Ned Lamont is going to be running for a third term and plans to file paperwork on Friday, according to sources with the governor’s office.

Lamont will be facing some challengers who have declared.

Democratic State Rep. Josh Elliott and Republican State Senator Ryan Fazio are also running.

Outgoing New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart, a Republican, has an exploratory committee but has not yet announced an official run.

Lamont, the 89th governor of the state, took office on Jan. 9, 2019 and began his second term on Jan. 4, 2023.
