NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A driver was injured Tuesday morning after an SUV partially fell off a car carrier at the Port of Davisville in North Kingstown, according to police.

North Kingstown Fire Battalion Chief Matthew Kennett said the SUV was on the upper deck of the carrier when its back end slipped over the edge, causing the rear tires and trunk to hit the ground.

The incident happened at North Atlantic Distribution (NORAD), which handles vehicle imports at the port. It’s unclear whether the car was being loaded or unloaded at the time.

Fire crews stabilized the SUV and worked for about 15 minutes to safely remove the driver, who was then taken to Rhode Island Hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries, according to Kennett.
