A report from the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has found two officers not criminally responsible for the death of a missing 15-year-old in August of 2024.
In the early morning of August 30, 2024, the RCMP received a call from the individual who indicated that he was in Wetaskiwin and was being followed by a group of people who were trying to kill him.
The first officer arrived on scene in a marked RCMP truck and learned from the detachment clerk that the child had been reported missing by the Edmonton Police Service.
The officer and individual met up near a McDonald’s in Wetaskiwin. Upon meeting the child, he told the officer that he was scared and in possession of multiple weapons, including a machete and a knife. He voluntarily turned over a shoulder bag by held onto
