Costel Tambac and his partner Marianna Iova have been jailed after tricking women into coming to the UK where they were then forced into a life of prostitution

A couple forced women who were "slapped and punched" to have sex with "six to eight clients" daily, a court heard.

Costel Tambac, 50, and his partner Marianna Iova, 35, took mobile phones and identity documents from women they forced to work in the UK after they had been trafficked from Romania. One woman, aged 19, went on a minibus to the UK in 2016 after receiving a message offering work on Facebook , and a 25-year-old was told was convinced to go by a man who pretended to be in a relationship with her.
