PITTSFIELD, M.A. (NEWS10) —Tens of thousands of books destroyed because of water leaks at the Berkshire Community College, but thanks to some unexpected support, there’s hope for a fresh start.
Even before covid the library building had issues with water leaks coming from the ceilings and the ground level.
"When covid happened, the building was, of course, closed up and that's a problem because there's no air ventilation when you don’t have any windows open and you're, you know, probably your heat and we didn't have air conditioning, so none of that was probably in any way monitored," said Karen Carreras Hubbard, Coordinator of Library Services at Berkshire Community College.
And once the building opened back up and staff came back it was a surprise they weren’t expecting.
