ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Sixteen new police officers are joining the ranks of the Albany Police Department. Family members and city leaders joined them for a swearing-in ceremony on Friday at Albany City Hall.
Officials said the recruits had a difficult journey to get to this point, undergoing significant training, background checks, and agility tests. Police Chief Brendan Cox also emphasized the importance of mental health and wellbeing.
"This is a challenging life. This is a challenging job. We are under the microscope 24 hours a day. We see trauma. We see all kinds of horrific things.
