EAST MILLINOCKET, Maine (WABI) - The Democrat who represented Maine’s Second Congressional District for 12 years is weighing on next year’s race.
Mike Michaud served as U.S. Representative from 2003 to 2015.
Last month, Michaud endorsed Democrat Matt Dunlap, citing Dunlap’s experience in government and presence in CD2.
WABI asked Michaud Friday about Congressman Jared Golden’s announcement this week that he would not run for reelection.
In response, Michaud says he totally understands the decision and commends Golden’s time in office.
Golden said in his announcement a big reason for dropping out was the incivility in D.C. and the mounting threats toward his family, something Michaud said he agrees with.
