ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — It's still unclear when people will be able to see their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, and this puts vulnerable people like seniors at risk.

That's why senior centers are stepping up and continuing to provide free meals for them.

The Anderson County Office on Aging and Senior Center serves a meal every single weekday for people who are over the age of 60 and live in Anderson County.

With SNAP benefits up in the air, it could be the only meal a senior eats. Every weekday from noon to 1 p.m., seniors in Anderson County head to the center for a free, hot meal.

Judy Gaines said she's been heading to the center for the last three or four years. She said it not only provides a nutritious meal, but she also finds companionship.
