LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For the first time, the Kentucky Veterans Parade lined the streets of NuLu on Saturday. The ceremony honored the sacrifices of those who have served in the United States military.

Crowds lined the streets to show their support for veterans like James Jeffries, who served in the Vietnam War. He traveled from Hodgenville to ride in a Jeep down the street. He was honored as part of the Heroes Among Us , which featured specific veterans.

“For the people that took time to put all of this on for us, I just … God bless them,” Jeffries teared up. "I do it for my brothers and sisters that never made it home from Vietnam."

Jeffries' daughter, Deidra Hutchins, stood among the spectators, waving flags and cheering for those in the parade.
