Two men have gone on trial accused of unlawfully killing a "fragile and vulnerable" 33-year-old who died after he was allegedly attacked twice in two days.

Shane Norley and John Farmer, both from Chatham, are said to have each made a "more than minimal contribution" to the death of Josh Ingram on April 2 last year with their separate assaults on March 30 and April 1, respectively.

A witness to the first in Chatham High Street told police Norley punched the victim to the head using "100% full force", with the impact sounding "like a brick hitting something".

Among a number of communications found on the 37-year-old's phone after his arrest was a message in which a voice, thought to be Norley, could be heard to say "hit my man once...and then the motherf***** died couple days later."
