HOMEWOOD, Ala. —
Change is happening across Central Alabama with new city leaders meeting for the first time since taking the oath of office. The city of Homewood is at the forefront of that change, electing its first woman to lead the city and serve as mayor.
As the new mayor of Homewood, Mayor Jennifer Andress said she’s focusing on moving more transparently and intentionally. She says things are going to look a little different inside city hall, but hopes these changes will keep moving the city forward.
Andress served on the city council for nine years and represented the residents of Ward 5. Homewood residents voted in September 2024 to restructure their government by adding a city manager to oversee daily operations. That change became effective last Monday and Andress said it’s al
