JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - A Philomath man faces serious charges following a crash that left an elderly victim paralyzed.

Jesse Scott Klain, 37, was charged on Monday with second-degree assault, DUII, and reckless driving. The charges stem from an August 8 crash on Highway 99 near Milliron Road.

Authorities allege Klain was driving erratically in a 2022 GMC Sierra, weaving through traffic before colliding with the victim's 1999 Dodge pickup truck.

Both Klain and the victim were hospitalized after the incident.

At the hospital, Klain's blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.29 percent. He allegedly told police he had not been drinking and was rushing to catch a flight.
