CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The City of Cincinnati and the Ohio State Highway Patrol entered an agreement to collaborate to tackle crime following a spike earlier this year.
The partnership expanded resources for the Cincinnati Police Department, with the OSHP providing access to its equipment that would otherwise not be available, such as high-tech search helicopters.
“We are a search asset. It just depends on what you’re going to plug us into, either illegal acts or persons in need of rescue or recovery,” Sgt. Chris Hasty, a pilot for the aviation unit of OSP, said.
Cameras, GPS and heat sensors are just some of the tools in the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s helicopters that help them fight violent crime across the state and in Cincinnati.
