JAMES CITY — A group of James City County residents has filed a lawsuit to stop the county from continuing plans for a new government center without a referendum.
A motion for an emergency temporary injunction was filed Wednesday in Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court on behalf of seven plaintiffs. The motion names County Administrator Scott Stevens as a defendant along with county’s Board of Supervisors — Jim Icenhour, John McGlennon, Ruth Larson, Michael Hipple and Barbara Null.
The attorney for the plaintiffs, Charles and Sandra Colegrove, Kathleen Rothschild, Karen Rollins, Agnes Marie Manzie, Michael James Joseph and Linda Wise, announced the lawsuit Wednesday during public comments during the supervisors’ regular meeting.
