HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - Local Henderson business Farmer and Frenchman are looking to expand their operations. What started as a winery turned into a bed and breakfast which is looking to expand to a new six-unit building.
The business filed for a building permit back in August but were denied due to zoning issues.
Officials with the Henderson County Codes department say Bed and Breakfast locations can only have four units.
Otherwise it would be considered a motel which is only allowed in a general business district. However, the business owners say there’s precedent.
“There was another winery in Henderson that had a bed and breakfast in it and was not subject to any of the zoning ordinances and it was ag-exempt,” says Katy Mussat, co-owner of Farmer and Frenchman.
