Strong, gusty northwest winds will persist through Monday evening across New Jersey , with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph before gradually diminishing overnight.
Temperatures will remain well below normal, with highs only reaching the 40s through midweek.
The gusty conditions are courtesy of a strong low pressure system positioned over southeastern Canada, according to the National Weather Service .
While winds will gradually weaken Monday night, gusts up to 20 to 25 mph are still possible through Tuesday. Overnight lows Monday will drop into the upper 20s inland and low to mid-30s along the coast under clearing skies.
High pressure will briefly build into the region Tuesday, bringing another seasonably cold day with highs only in the mid- to upper 40s. Highs in New Jersey on Nov. 18
