BENNINGTON — The distinctive peanut-shaped roundabout near the Bennington College entrance drive was fully opened to traffic on Friday afternoon.
It is now merging vehicles traveling Route 67A in both directions with those entering or crossing the state highway from Matteson Road/Rice Lane, Silk Road and College Drive.
Site work – including final paving, line striping, lighting and landscaping – remains for the $6.45 million state project, and that is expected to be completed before next fall.
“Drivers approaching the roundabout from any direction should slow down, yield to vehicles already in the roundabout, enter only when there is a safe gap in traffic; travel counterclockwise, and use turn signals when exiting the roundabout,” according to a state Agency of Transportation media rele
