COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The search for a man in connection with an early morning shooting at Waffle House ended with the man in custody on Tuesday, according to the Cookeville Police Department.

Cookeville PD reported that officers responded to the Waffle House on South Willow Avenue just after midnight and found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Detectives learned that the shooting stemmed from an argument in the parking lot between the injured man’s group of people and 40-year-old Derrick Brown.

Witnesses told detectives that the argument escalated and Brown pulled out a gun, shot the man, and then ran away.
