ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (WNDU) - The jury in the trial for the man accused of killing an off-duty Eau Claire firefighter last year began Monday watching surveillance videos from cameras outside businesses near where the shooting happened.
47-year-old Rigoberto Gomez is facing several charges, including open murder , in the death of 26-year-old Chad Medlin, who prosecutors say was killed outside Hometown Bar in Eau Claire last November. His trial began last Wednesday .
According to our reporting partners at The Herald-Palladium , witnesses who testified last week said the two men had a verbal altercation inside the bar and, when it escalated, employees decided to close the bar early. The shooting occurred shortly after that.
