NORTH BENNINGTON – On Saturday Nov. 15, The Left Bank hosted an opening reception for the exhibition, “In Dark Days, O Say Can You See?” The show includes work by twenty different artists, ranging in age from 11 to 83.
The exhibition is an opportunity for artists to respond to the current moment in American politics. The gallery features photos and paintings of protesters and numerous interpretations of the American flag amongst more subtle imagery, such as Madalyn Olson’s sculpture of a haloed eagle with the face of a woman.
“I was thinking about how women feel in our political climate – sadness, grief, anger, protectiveness,” Olson said. She also has a watercolor painting in the show, which depicts two sisters fighting viciously while a two headed man watches from afar. She was trying
