TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The downtown Traverse City Light Parade is expected to draw a big crowd this weekend. Saturday’s event will feature the city’s annual Tree Lighting at Cass and Front streets, Santa’s big arrival into town, live music, and a dazzling Light Parade with thousands of twinkling lights.
The star of the show arrived just a few days ago: A 30-year-old Blue Spruce that was trucked into town and installed with the help of Team Elmer’s elves.
“It was quite the journey into downtown,” city officials said. You can see the video here.
This hefty tree, donated by a local couple, is tipping the scales at nearly 3,800 pounds.
While the tree lighting is the focal point, there will be lots of other activities drawing people downtown on Saturday.
The events are free and open to local
