Chain controls were lifted on Interstate 80 on Thursday as a Sierra storm moved through the region.
Eastbound I-80 reopened after a big-rig crash briefly closed the highway near Donner Summit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Caltrans said no chain controls are in effect in either direction, but truck screenings remain in place. Eastbound trucks are being screened at Applegate and westbound trucks are being screened at Mogul, with both required to carry maximum chains to proceed.
