BEAUMONT, Texas — A 50-year-old man has been indicted on charges of aggravated assault after police say he stabbed a man multiple times in the face with a pocket knife outside a Cartwright Avenue residence on Oct. 15.

Derek Shinkle was taken into custody at the scene of the disturbance call in the 900 block of Cartwright Avenue at approximately 9:28 p.m. on Oct. 15.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained from Magistrate Judge Marc DeRouen, Shinkle made statements to officers that he was responsible for the stabbing and the knife he used was in his back pocket.
Officers recovered a black folding pocket knife with apparent blood on the blade from Shinkle's rear pocket when they took him into custody.
