ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — DeKalb County police shot a woman in an incident that initially started as a call about person held against their will at a home on Friday morning, according to officials.
Officers were called to the house on Erroll Drive in unincorporated Lithonia at around 5:30 a.m. When they arrived, they ran into the suspect, leading to a shootout.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was shot and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said the suspect is now in stable condition.
An officer was shot in their vest but wasn’t injured, according to the GBI. No other officers were injured.
