1. Being a mum

I can't have a list of 10 things that changed my life without mentioning having my boys, Benny and Chevy, because how could that not have changed me? It changed me massively. They are grown up now, and I’ve just driven back from helping my son in Edinburgh , and he’s like, “do you still have empty nest syndrome, Mum?”

And I do. I miss them all the time but I want them to have their lives.

I didn’t realise how much it would change my life but every decision I’ve made since then, I have made with the boys in mind. I think about them all the time – probably too much to be honest.

The other thing is that the mummy guilt is intense. I thought now they’re 20 and 24, it would go away, but it’s worse.
