BRATTLEBORO — Christopher Dougherty will not be returning to his position as president and CEO of Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.

On Thursday, the BMH Board of Directors announced the news. Dougherty had been on a leave of absence since Oct. 3.

"The parties agree that under the current circumstances it is best for Chris to depart and for the Hospital to bring in new leadership," the announcement states. "Chris is proud of his accomplishments and grateful for the opportunity to have led the Hospital."

In the announcement, the board and staff at BMH thanked Dougherty for "his service over the past three-and-a-half years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
