A winter storm watch was released by the National Weather Service on Monday at 1:38 a.m. valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 p.m. for Jefferson and Lewis counties.
The weather service adds, "Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations greater than 7 inches possible in the most persistent lake snows. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph, producing blowing and drifting snow and possible whiteout conditions."
"Whiteout conditions are possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period," explains the weather service.
