The outbound Parkway East was closed during the morning rush Monday because of a vehicle fire at the Bates Street on-ramp, officials said.
All lanes on the eastbound side were closed, and a lane on the inbound/westbound side was also closed to help accommodate first responders.
Outbound traffic was being detoured at the Grant Street exit (71A) in Downtown. Traffic coming from the Parkway North was being detours at the Oakland/Forbes Avenue exit (72A).
The vehicle reportedly caught fire around 5:30 a.m., according to Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV.
It’s unknown when the outbound lanes of the Parkway East are expected to reopen. It was not immediately known if there were any injuries, KDKA reported.
