A London pub owner has blamed “entitled parents” for forcing him to restrict the hours children are allowed in, warning that more pubs may soon move towards becoming child-free.

Egil Johansen, who runs The Kenton in Hackney, would allow children in the pub until 7pm, up until three years ago, when it was changed to 5pm due to children being disruptive.

He told The Standard: “I’ve been running The Kenton for 17 years, and there’s been a big rise in the number of entitled parents. They come in, sit down, drink, and they don’t care what their kids are doing.

“They are running around with no supervision at all and we have signage all over the pubs saying children need to be supervised and seated at all times.”
