SPRING LAKE, Mich. — Living on a bayou in Spring Lake, the Pummill family knows what hunting season sounds like.

It was nothing like what they heard early Friday evening.

“I hear a popping noise and then a loud bang upstairs in my brother's room,” said Riley Pummill, saying the force was so strong "it shook the house."

When he looked up, he saw where a bullet had entered the home near the ceiling.

But the bullet didn’t stop there.

It passed through a bedroom upstairs and missed his brother by about a foot, according to their mother Stacey Pummill.

She said they believe the bullet hit a stud in the wall and turned the bullet toward the bedroom.

The Pummills are shaken by the experience.

"For me, because it's my child, it's traumatizing. That could have been his body," Stacey Pummill
