Firefighters battled a South Tyneside blaze for around 24 hours with the investigation now being handed over to health and safety regulators. On Friday afternoon, emergency services descended on Beach Road in South Shields following reports of a fire.
Chronicle Live previously reported that five fire crews from across Tyne and Wear attended the scene shortly after 12.40pm. Due to the severity of the damage, residents evacuated from their homes after the fire were unable to return to collect their belongings days later.
