Two hikers from Massachusetts were rescued below the summit of Mt. Monadnock on Sunday, New Hampshire officials said.
Conservation officers rescued the hikers, identified as Somerset residents Devin Machado, 23, and Alexandra Castro, 21, after they got lost in Monadnock State Park, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
At about 4:15 p.m., conservation officers were alerted that the two hikers called 911 asking for help. The call included GPS coordinates that placed the two hikers off trail, south of the Red Spot Trail, about 1,000 feet below the summit of Mt. Monadnock, officials said.
