LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A 14-year-old mother faces a murder charge after a baby was found dead in Livingston Parish, deputies said.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, the teen is being charged with first-degree murder, among other things.

The investigation began on Friday, November 21, when deputies were called to a hospital about a teen seeking treatment after recently giving birth at a home, authorities said.

According to LPSO, deputies responded to the home in Denham Springs. They said they discovered the teen had delivered the baby and had placed the infant in a “tote” to conceal it. Authorities said that when emergency responders located the “tote,” they found the baby dead inside.
