ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A University of Georgia football player was allegedly traveling more than 100 mph during a police chase Sunday that ended in his arrest and the arrest of his mother as well.
Nyier Daniels, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman and former four-star player at Bergen Catholic, is now facing four felony charges and nine misdemeanors in connection with the incident.
Daniels’ mother, Brandi Canada-Green, is facing six traffic-related charges in connection with the incident, including willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
On Monday, UGA head football coach Kirby Smart said while he has not spoken directly with Daniels, the player has been removed from the team.
