JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Public health officials announced on Monday a confirmed case of bird flu in a goose in Rock County.

According to a news release from Rock County Public Health (RCPH), local officials were notified by the Department of Health Services (DHS) on Friday that a goose had tested positive for bird flu and that the goose had been in contact with someone who lives in Rock County.

The person who had contact with the goose has been monitored for symptoms of bird flu, which include eye redness and irritation, a mild fever, a cough and/or sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, a headache and fatigue. They have not reported symptoms, so RCPH said testing was not required.
