JANESVILLE, Wis. — An animal in Rock County was said to have bird flu.
On Monday, Rock County Public Health (RCPH) announced a confirmed case of highly pathogenic avian influenza, or bird flu, in a goose in Rock County.
On Friday, RCPH was notified by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services that a goose had tested positive for bird flu. The goose had been in contact with a resident of Rock County.
RCPH worked with Wisconsin's Health Services Department and the resident to monitor any symptoms and reduce the potential spread. RCPH said that at the moment, the contact did not cause any symptoms, and testing was not needed.
