City and state officials announced a number of safety measures ahead of the upcoming 52nd annual Bayou Classic, which runs from Thursday, Nov. 27, through Sunday, Nov. 30. The weekend includes the Thanksgiving Day parade, fan festival, battle of the bands, and the football game at Caesars Superdome.

An “enhanced security zone” will cover part of the French Quarter, stretching from Canal Street to St. Ann Street, between Royal and Dauphine Streets—including part of Bourbon Street. Checkpoints will be in place, with bag searches and a ban on coolers. Cars and other vehicles are largely prohibited, except for emergencies. Guests staying on Bourbon Street should use Royal or Dauphine streets to access their hotels, showing proof of reservation and ID if dropped off at nearby cross streets. An
