BRUCEVILLE-EDDY, Texas — A dog found lying in the grass along the median of Interstate 35 in Bruceville-Eddy is now recovering after what veterinarians say were extensive, traumatic injuries.

Bruceville-Eddy Police Chief Michael Dorsey says the call came in just after 11 a.m. on Nov. 8 from a passerby driving southbound on Interstate 35. Lincoln, a Black Labrador mix dog, was discovered laying in the grass and unable to walk.

Body camera footage from Dorsey shows what happened that day.

“At first he just started barking at me,” Dorsey said. “I wasn’t sure if he was hurt or just scared.” As he got closer, Dorsey realized Lincoln had been seriously injured. He noticed cuts along the dog’s back legs and said Lincoln wouldn’t stand or walk when he tried to help him move.
