MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - Hundreds of families in Madison and Jefferson counties received free groceries Tuesday ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Madison food drive started at 10 a.m., but Second Harvest of the Big Bend said cars were lined up on College Loop as early as 6 a.m. Tuesday.
CEO Monique Ellsworth said 250 people in Madison County received free groceries.
“I had the chance to, kind of, walk the line and talk to folks before the distribution began, and a number of seniors broke down crying when they heard what we were able to give them today,” Ellsworth said. “They were anticipating not being able to cook for their families.”
Living on disability income, Moore-Pearson said she appreciates the food drives to help feed her family.
