Colleen Jones, the greatest curler Nova Scotia has ever produced, died Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. She was 65.

Jones’s son, Luke Saunders, announced his mother’s passing on her X feed .

“Mom had been fighting and trying to beat back cancer over the last three years or so,” Saunders wrote. “Late this morning, while looking out on the ocean from her favourite spot in Maders Cove, with my Dad, brother and myself beside her, mom passed away.

“Please think of your favourite Colleen Jones moment, cherish it. Hurry and love hard.”

During her illustrious curling career, Jones won six national titles and two world championships. She was also a two-time Canadian mixed champion and a world senior titleholder. Jones was inducted into Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame in 2016 and six years
