A 17-year-old is facing felony drug charges after state troopers seized more than 250 grams of fentanyl during a months-long trafficking investigation in Cecil County, according to Maryland State Police.
Troopers zeroed in on the teen after identifying him as a source of supply during an October and November probe into fentanyl distribution in the Elkton area, police said.
Investigators secured warrants for his home and the gray 2019 Honda Civic he was using to run the operation.
At about 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, troopers watched the teen walk out of his Elkton house and detained him before he got into the car.
He was carrying 16 bundles of fentanyl, according to MSP.
A search of the home and vehicle turned up 56 more bundles, all packaged in blue wax paper bags stamped “UHAUL,” each wrapped in a clear zipper bag and rubber-banded together.
In total, investigators recovered 257.7 grams of fentanyl.
The teen was taken to the North East Barrack and charged as a juvenile.
He was later released to his mother while the case is reviewed by the Cecil County State’s Attorney’s Office.
