A 38-year-old man was arrested twice on the same day after deputies said he returned to the Dutchess County pharmacy he was ordered to stay away from after allegedly burglarizing it, authorities said.

Beekman resident Ryan T. Gabriel, age 38, was first arrested on Saturday, Nov. 22, after deputies responded to the Total Care Pharmacy at 2859 Route 55 in Beekman around 3:40 p.m. for a reported burglary in progress, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

When they arrived, they found that the building had been forced open, an alarm was sounding, and items had been taken, authorities said.

While checking the area, deputies found Gabriel walking nearby and took him into custody. Investigators later accused him of damaging the building and stealing medication before running off.

Gabriel was charged with burglary, grand larceny, criminal mischief, and possession of burglar’s tools. After he was arraigned in Beekman Town Court, he was released under Probation supervision and ordered to stay at least 500 feet away from the pharmacy, the Sheriff's Office said.

However, a short time later, deputies on patrol reported seeing Gabriel standing directly in front of the same pharmacy. He was taken into custody again and charged with second-degree criminal contempt for violating the court order. He was later released on an appearance ticket.
