Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran was sent off for Fenerbahce on Thursday night after headbutting a Ferencvaros player.

The incident occurred in second half added time when Duran lent into Ferencvaros defender Toon Raemaekers with his head, just yards away from referee Ricardo de Burgos, who had no hesitation in showing a straight red card.

Before Fenerbahce’s clash with Ferencvaros, Duran was just one booking away from a one-match suspension in the Europa League . However, the straight red now guarantees he will miss at least one game in the competition.

He will definitely miss Fenerbahce’s upcoming match against Brann in Norway next month, though it remains uncertain whether he will also miss the following game against his former club, Villa.
