Auburn, N.Y. — Body camera footage shows how a police officer, sheriff’s deputy and a neighbor rescued a man from a burning home in Auburn earlier this month.

Auburn Police Officer Paul Flickner was on routine patrol on at about 4 p.m. Nov. 5 when he saw a report of a fire at 39 Perry St. on his car computer, according to a police news release.

He was just a few blocks away and arrived within two minutes. When Flickner got there, he saw flames coming from the back of the house and heavy black smoke pouring from the front door and windows, police said.

A neighbor told him that dogs had escaped from the house, but that people may still be inside.

Flickner went to the front entrance and yelled to anyone inside. A man who had been asleep woke up and began yelling for help.
