A winter storm dumped heavy snowfall on Michigan this week, reaching over 2.5 feet in areas of the western Upper Peninsula — and more is on the way , according to the National Weather Service .

The storm, continuing into Friday, Nov. 28, brought high winds and heavy lake effect snow to Michigan, particularly the western U.P., with 31.3 inches of snowfall in Hurley by Nov. 27, the NWS said.

Winter storm warnings and advisories are in place across the eastern U.P. and parts of northern and western Michigan Nov. 28, per the weather agency. Most regions throughout western Michigan and the tip of the Thumb should see light snowfall, a half-inch or less, while heavy snow up to over 7 inches is forecasted in the eastern U.P. and part of northern Michigan, the NWS said.
