DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings once again scored enough to win but gave up too much and lost.
The Tampa Bay Lightning got a pair of goals from Yanni Gourde and defeated Detroit 6-3 Friday at Little Caesars Arena, winning their sixth in a row while handing the Red Wings their third consecutive loss.
The Red Wings (13-11-1) have dropped four of their past five, allowing 24 goals. The Lightning (15-7-2), despite missing stars Victor Hedman and Brayden Point due to injuries, have won 14 of their past 17.
Trailing 4-3, the Red Wings had a couple of chances during their only power play of the game midway through the third period but didn’t convert.
Jake Guentzel then scored with 7:23 remaining, a net-front redirection of Darren Raddysh’s shot and the Lightning regained their two-goal cushio
