The Columbia Public Works Department is preparing to respond as a round of winter weather approaches mid-Missouri Friday night.

KOMU 8 First Alert Weather is anticipating patchy slushy or slick spots in mid-Missouri Saturday morning. A First Alert Weather Day has been issued due to the possible travel impacts.

A 14-person snowplow crew with the Public Works Department is scheduled to report at 7 p.m. Friday as the system moves into the area.

Staff with the Public Works Department will monitor the storm, according to the news release. If the front shifts south, the department said additional workers and equipment are ready to be activated. A daytime crew will report at 7 a.m. Saturday to continue monitoring road conditions, according to the news release.
